Bog Filters are known by many names. When Waterscapes says a "bog filter"
we mean a system in which water is filtrated through a series of increasingly
shrinking rock as well as natural plant filters. A bog works by pushing
water from a retention pond or other water source through a small porous
rock layer, then a larger porous rock layer, then through gravel and
finally through marginal aquatic plants such as reeds. By passing through
so many layers, the water is naturally filtered reducing, if not removing
the need for any chemical treatments of the area. Many states are starting
to move to a more eco-friendly environment and reducing the amount of
chemicals a retention pond can use. With a proper sized bog filter, chemicals
are no longer needed for general cleaning! Wouldn't it be nice to know
that you can have a large scaled water feature without worrying about
how much you are affecting your surrounding environment? With a bog feature
you can! Call us for more information. We'd be happy to discuss with
you any questions you might have about large-scale bog features.
